Learn More About State Lemon Laws

File a lemon law auto warranty complaint with the BBB AUTO LINE program.

Every state has a lemon law. Lemon laws establish standards for when vehicles should be repurchased or replaced by the manufacturer. The lemon laws contain eligibility requirements, notice requirements, and also set out specific remedies that a consumer may recover in a legal action against the manufacturer if a vehicle cannot be fixed to conform to the warranty after a reasonable number of repair attempts. It is important for you to know your rights and responsibilities.

Programs to help resolve lemon law disputes are available to most consumers. BBB AUTO LINE is the largest and most effective program available for your auto warranty concerns. BBB AUTO LINE has helped almost two million consumers find a solution to their vehicle problems since its inception in 1978. If your auto manufacturer participates in BBB AUTO LINE, we can help you negotiate with the manufacturer and, if necessary, hold an arbitration hearing. If your manufacturer doesn't participate, we'll route your complaint to that manufacturer.
